Asheville police continue to investigate the shooting death on Sunday afternoon of a 20 year old man at Pisgah View Apartments. Police are seeking a juvenile suspect in the case and have issued a first degree murder warrant, according to the Asheville Citizen Times.

Bryson City is really pulling out all the stops to celebrate the solar eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21. The city has a full weekend full of events, including an outdoor movie and music leading up to Monday, which will include a train ride to an eclipse viewing destination and music from several Asheville bands, including Andrew Scotchie and the River Rats, Lyric, Grandpa Cough Medicine and The Company Store.
Two finalists have been chosen for the position of equity and inclusion manager at the city of Asheville, according to a city press release. The person in the newly created job lead the City of Asheville’s effort to expand equity in city services and programs, and will be dedicated to helping the City achieve meaningful progress by evaluating the delivery of City programs, services and its decision making in order to operationalize equity, according to the release.
